Inspiration can be found everywhere. When I was doing research for my post regarding DIY Pillow Covers I discovered that Gemma Comas had photographed the book The Pillow Book. Inspiration : So Simple
I am staying in Berlin for the week with my dear friend Stefan Grüner. Stefan is an art director and has a keen eye for all things designed whether it is illustration, furniture, textile, photography or interior design. As I type he is perusing Etsy in search of perfect pillows to match his new couch. Personally I do not know too many men who would have such an interest and I just love it that he does. When I wonder does this appeal or would this look good together I can count on Stefan to always give me valuable feedback.
This morning while we were preparing breakfast he got out his camera and took a picture of the hanging cupboard that stands in the breezeway between the hall and the kitchen. The final result is so lovely that I thought I would share. I find it inspirational as to what a few white vases, a bold wall color and flowers can create.
The vases are from various sources over the last 2 years… IKEA, Habitat and Who’s Perfect. The owl is from a little shop around the corner and was purchased to adorn the top of the Christmas tree (Silver Christmas Tree!) this year.
Inspiration : the 10 cent designer
The aim of roomgoods is to showcase products that you can purchase in Europe and normally I would not write a post that did not contain a product for sale but today I wanted to point out some inspiration for your home decorating. I am a big fan of Lorie Andrews, a Canadian interior designer and photographer, who has a Flickr account entitled ‘the 10 cent designer‘. Her Flickr ‘interiors‘ set contain some lovely photos of the decorating projects that she has created for various clients.
Lorie uses a soft palette for walls, floors, and window fashion with jolts of color in her use of textiles such as upholstry, pillow cushions and bedding. She then blends this together perfectly with the most serene accessories like lamps, mirrors, vases. Her interiors remind me that one does not need an endless cash flow to create beautiful spaces. So head on over and see the rest of her inspirational settings. Also note Lorie is a photographer and has a blog of her photo series ‘the 10 cent designer lost her head’ which is a series of photos of people captured without their faces being shown. Lovely and thought provoking.
Birds Of A Feather : Etsy & Retail Finds
Stefan, my friend and design guru, loves birds and before I met Stefan I never thought of these feathered creatures as objects of beauty outside of nature. Now with new eyes I am seeing birds everywhere - handtowels, art prints, sculptures, t-shirts, bedding, table trays…. the list goes on. If you have never thought of birds as objects of desire then keep your eyes open you will be pleasantly surprised how charming, sophisticated and down right contagious they can be.
The four prints above are by Aline *Yumi* Yamada the Etsy shop owner of YumiYumi. She is a fine art illustrator hailing from Brazil and transplanted to Ohio, USA. Her giclee prints are of her original illustrations and are printed on museum quality paper, signed and dated. Lovely.

Revive a Room : BoConcept
Want to revive your space but have to do it on a buget then BoConcept is an excellent choice. I find the prices are definitely in line with their quality.
