A practical and sophisticated solution - the Bench coffee table by Avilar.
The Italian company Alivar was established in 1984, offering design classics through its ‘Museum Collection’. Alivar gained its reputation as the only company offering a full range of historic pieces by such designers as : Alvar Aalto, Eileen Gray, Eero Saarinen, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, George Nelson to name but a few. In 1994, Alivar with the help of the architect Giuseppe Bavuso, created 2 of it’s own collections of furniture entitled: Home Project and Brilliant Furniture.
The Bench coffee table comes in oak or in glossy laquered wood with two side drawers. A rectangular version (126l x 86w x 19h cm) is also manufactured.

In the Details : Miss Miza Vinyl Decals
The French born Mia Zami or better known in the design world as Miss Miza is a fashion graphic illustrator working in Barcelona, Spain. Les Invasions Ephémères commissioned Miss Miza to create a collection of vinyl stickers that were first shown at ‘Maison & Objet’, the Parisian home decoration exhibition, this past September of 2007.
I am a fan of Miss Miza’s work and am particularly fond of the carpet decal. Great way to add contrast to your floors without the permanency of paint.

A tale to behold: Vladmaster
I am truly loving the ‘Vladmaster’, the creation of the 30 year old American artist Vladimir. Vladmasters are handmade View-Master® reels designed, photographed and hand-assembled by Vladimir. I think I adore this concept so much because as a child I loved my View-Master® toy and this is a definite nostalgia trip for me.
I cannot do justice to the concept of the Vladmaster and each of its 6 tales but you can read about each story here. Each tale is accompanied by a narrated mini-cd featuring the story with sound effects, music and a ding noise to signal changing from one image to another. Each set consists of 4 reels, a box to house them in and the mini-cd soundtrack.
Vladimir has held interactive screenings of her Vladmaster tales with the audience participating in the show, as pictured above. Whart fun.

In 1999 Lina Rickardsson founded Pappelina in Sweden. Lina was originally searching for a local textile mill to weave linen rugs but the mill was actually focused on plastics. Retro : Roberts Radio
The British firm, Roberts, was established in 1932 and quickly became known for the quality of their products. The R250 is an analogue portable radio that is part of their “Revival” collection. The radio can be battery operated but also has an AC adaptor plug, comes in a multitude of colors, are light weight coming in at 1.2kg and make a definite statement that ‘you love retro’.
The company over the years, have worked to make various custom versions of their standard model, such as encasing them in leather, or a line for Kath Kidson that is covered in flower prints or the show stopper Swarovski version, are but a few examples.

Skygarden Lamp by Marcel Wanders
A thing of beauty can describe the Skygarden lamp by Marcel Wanders for Flos. Marcel was inspired by a decorative ceiling in a former house he resided in, upon moving he missed the ceiling so much that he recreated it in the form of this lamp.
The material of the lamp used is plaster body, textured decorations inside with a liquid-paint finish outside. Colors available are opal gold, matt white, matt black or matt rust brown.
